View a PSD file online without uploading it

Many online PSD viewers send the file to a server to draw a preview. Photostr opens the PSD in your browser instead, so you can look through its layers and save a picture of it while the file stays on your device.

Photostr is a free online Photoshop alternative that runs in your browser. There is no account to make, and your photos stay on your device.

Open the file

Go to Photostr and choose Open from computer, or drop the PSD onto the page. PSB files, the larger version of PSD, open too, as long as your device has enough memory.

Look through the layers

The Layers panel lists everything in the file. Click the eye beside a layer to hide or show it. Groups open with the arrow beside them. Text layers that Photostr supports stay as text, so you can read and copy them.

Zoom and move around

Hold the space bar and drag to move around. Use View → Zoom In and Zoom Out, or Ctrl or Cmd with plus and minus, to look closer. Zoom does not change the file.

Save a picture of what you see

Choose File → Quick Export as PNG for a fast copy, or File → Export As to pick PNG, JPEG or WebP and a size. Only the visible layers are included, so hide anything you want to leave out first.

If you want to change the file and keep it layered, follow the PSD editing guide instead.

Questions

Is my PSD uploaded?

No. Photostr reads and draws the file in your browser. Nothing in the PSD is sent to us.

Why does the PSD look a little different from Photoshop?

Fonts that are not on your device, some layer effects and unsupported features can be drawn differently. Treat the preview as a close check, not proof for print.

Can I view a PSD on a phone?

Yes, in a current mobile browser. Very large files can run out of memory on a phone sooner than on a computer.
